ジェイソン・デルーロはソングライターとして曲を提供するなどで音楽キャリアを始め、リル・ウェインやディディなどと共に仕事をする。その後、マイナーなレーベル、ベルーガ・ハイツと契約。ベルーガ・ハイツがワーナー・ミュージック・グループ傘下になった後、2009年5月にデビュー・シングル「Whatcha Say（ワッチャ・セイ、僕のせい）」を発売。この曲はアメリカ合衆国とニュージーランドでナンバーワンソングとなった[1]。アメリカでは500万以上のデジタル・ダウンロードを記録し、RIAAより5xプラチナ認定を受けた[2]。同年12月に2枚目のシングル「イン・マイ・ヘッド」を発売。この曲はイギリスで1位になるなど世界各国で好調なセールを記録し、2曲続けての世界的なヒットとなった[3]。

2010年2月、3枚目のシングル「Ridin' Solo」をリリース。この曲も米英をはじめとする世界各国で好調なセールを記録し世界的なヒットとなった[4]。3月2日にはデビュー・アルバム『ジェイソン・デルーロ』を発表する[5]。

2011年9月16日、2作目のアルバム『Future History』を発表した[6]。アルバムからは楽曲「Don't Wanna Go Home」「It Girl」などがヒットした[7]。

2013年9月20日、3作目のアルバム『Tattoos』を発表する[8]。収録曲「Talk Dirty」は特にヒットし、全米3位を記録、アメリカでは4xプラチナ認定を受けた[2]。他にも「Trumpets」「Wiggle」などの楽曲がヒットしている[2]。

2015年6月2日、4作目のアルバム『Everything Is 4』を発表した[9]。収録曲「Want to Want Me」は特にヒットし、全米5位を記録、アメリカでは4xプラチナ認定を受けた[2]。

2020年、ニュージーランドのプロデューサーJawsh 685との楽曲「Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)」はアメリカを含む世界7カ国で1位になるなど、世界的なヒットとなった[10]。
